With so many tasks, it’s easy to get caught up in doing something that isn’t driving revenue as much as other things. So, use the time in an employee evaluation to also evaluate the efficiency of your employees. I mean that in two ways: what is your employee’s output versus expectations and what are they spending time on that could be better spent elsewhere.
When you use positive performance appraisal phrases, you can simply state that while you appreciate their work in this area you think working on another project as the main focus would be more helpful to the business.
You don’t get the same effect in team meetings as you do in individual ones. Taking the time to meet with each individual regularly gives them better insight into where they need to be instead of just where the team needs to be.
It also can be difficult to motivate and evaluate every employee in a group setting, so when you meet, evaluate on an individual basis instead of just in a group. Your team should know where they are against your goal at all times, but your individuals should also be aware of personalized goals.
